Security

World-class security for your valuable data.

Data centers are valuable assets

They are part of a digital infrastructure critical to our modern society. Green Mountain secures our data centers, employees and business against various threats. We have developed a comprehensive framework for our data center security design, making sure our clients’ data are protected.

What is data center security?

In the case of colocation data centers, we often think of three types of security:

Physical security:

Security measures are designed to safeguard personnel and to prevent unauthorized access to facilities, equipment, and documents. Furthermore, they should also safeguard against unwanted actions like eavesdropping, sabotage, damage, and theft. Responsibility: Colocation provider

Personnel security:

Personnel security protects against those who exploit their legitimate access to our assets for unauthorized purposes. Responsibility: Colocation provider

Information/cyber security:

Cyber security refers to the body of technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. It may also be referred to as information technology security. Information security is the process of protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. Responsibility: Customer

In addition, many data centers talk about operational sustainability. This covers the risks of failure or downtime caused by natural disasters, human error, system failure etc. This is also within the responsibility of the colocation provider and you can read more about it here.

Culture and awareness

Above all, security starts with a strong security culture and awareness of the individual’s behavior and attitudes.  In Green Mountain we have a conscious and responsible approach to risk awareness. In other words,  we focus on how we act, interact and communicate with each other. Every employee, customer and supplier should understand the different types of risks we face.

Security risk analysis

A well-planned and organized security management design is an important foundation for protecting our assets. Through continuous risk analysis we identify the values, threats and vulnerabilities that represents the complete risk picture. We perform this exercise at a corporate level for each DC facility and set up a data center security plan with the right measures to reduce the risk.

What are the threats to data center security?

The data that is stored and processed in a data center is mission critical for companies and institutions. Therefore, they are also potential targets for different types of external threats ranging from illegal invaders, espionage and sabotage to terrorist acts.

Green Mountain has developed a comprehensive framework of physical data center security measures. This is absolutely crucial regardless of the type of threat. Together with information/ cyber security and personnel security, physical security is an important pillar in risk management.

Green Mountain’s physical security measures

We use multiple layers of interdependent systems to deny unauthorized access to facilities, equipment and resources and to protect personnel and property from damage or harm. For instance, this includes biometric access systems, man traps, intelligent video analysis and more.

  • CCT Coverage
  • Intelligent Video Analysis System
  • Electrovic Access Control System including biometric identification
  • Security personnel on site 24/7/365
