Undoubtedly, data centers consume a huge amount of energy and generates a lot of heat. In recent years, there has been an increased focus on how to make data centers more energy-efficient. Moreover, the industry has strenghtened the focus on how to reuse the heat that is generated. In this presentation Gyland will concentrate on the topic of data center heat reuse. He will share some of the thoughts and experiences from Green Mountain. He will also present our two exciting pilot projects:

Heat Reuse projects:

  • The world’s first land-based lobster farm – Norwegian Lobster Farm is the first company in the world to produce plate sized lobsters in a land-based fish farm. They will use the heated water from Green Mountain’s DC1 facility to give the lobsters the optimal environment for growth.
  • The world’s largest land-based trout farm – Hima Seafood starts construction this year. When fully operational in 2023, DC2-Telemark will deliver heated water to the production of 9.000 tons of trout annually.
