A chat with Kristin – From receptionist to Service Manager

When Kristin joined Green Mountain, the data center industry was completely new to her. Today, she works as a Service Manager at our Rjukan data center.

Her journey is a great example of how new opportunities and support from colleagues can open the door to a new career path.

A new industry and a new opportunity

Kristin joined Green Mountain in a combined finance and reception role when she and her family were moving back to Tinn municipality.

“When I saw the job opening at Green Mountain in Rjukan, I immediately thought it sounded like an exciting opportunity. The data center industry was completely new to me, but that was exactly what made the position interesting. Luckily, I got the job, and I am very happy I did.”

Starting in the reception gave Kristin the opportunity to get to know many of Green Mountain’s customers while also gaining a broad understanding of the company and its operations.

Over time, she was given the opportunity to take on new responsibilities and develop her skills.

“I think the most important factors in my development have been the opportunities I have been given, combined with the support from my colleagues. Green Mountain is a company where you can develop if you want to. I have had the chance to take on new tasks, which have been exciting, educational, and motivating.”

Building on experience

When Kristin moved into the role of Service Manager, her previous experience proved highly valuable.

“The transition felt very natural. Through my work in reception, I got to know several of our customers and gained a good understanding of the business. My experience with customer contact and service has been very valuable in my role as Service Manager, where relationships and understanding our customers’ needs are an important part of the job.”

Her journey also shows that career development does not always mean starting from scratch. Skills and experience gained in one position can become an important foundation for the next.

No day is the same

For Kristin, the combination of people, variety, and meaningful responsibilities continues to make Green Mountain an exciting place to work.

“What I enjoy most is the contact with people and the fact that no day is the same. I like the variety in my work. At the same time, it is motivating to know that what we do is important to our customers.”

And her advice to someone considering a career at Green Mountain is simple:

“I had no experience from the data center industry when I joined Green Mountain, but I was given the opportunity to learn and develop. Green Mountain is a place where you can get many exciting opportunities.”

If she had to sum up her career at Green Mountain in three words?

Development. Learning. Opportunities.
