The DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards recognises outstanding talent and achievements within the data centre industry over the past 12 months, the awards celebrate data centre projects of all sizes and are considered the ‘Oscars’ of the data centre industry. There are over 1100 entries across the categories.
Data Center Dynamics is a premier organisation, representing the data centre industry worldwide – It is a great accolade to have won this award, in recognition of our efforts for designing, building and maintaining “The Greenest Data Centre in the World”. 2013 has been a very successful year for us, we became fully operational, instantly attracting a wide range of clients and being acknowledged by our peers in the industry is no mean feat, said Knut Molaug CEO of Green Mountain Data Centre.

-We were very impressed by the rigorous judging process and the distinctly high calibre of both the judges and entries; said Jonathan Evans, one of Knut’s UK based colleague’ this made winning the award even more significant to us’ he added.
It was Green Mountain Data Centre’s main data centre situated inside an ex-nato facility, on an island, deep inside a mountain, near Stavanger Norway, that received this endorsement from the data centre industry. The data centre has virtually zero carbon footprint and is operated entirely using hydro power, and by harnessing Nature’s natural forces from the adjacent fjord; world class cooling efficiency is achieved.
The unique award winning data centre design was also recently featured on BBC News ‘Worldwide’ in an Horizons documentary highlighting corporations aiming to reduce their carbon footprint in the power hungry IT Industry. Green Mountain recently also announced the building of a second green data centre, at Rjukan Norway.
