Green Mountain the leading Norwegian data centre provider achieves Uptime Institute Tier III certification for design of their DC2-Telemark datacentre. Green Mountain now operates two Tier III certified datacentres and is the only Nordic provider of high quality certified datacentres.
The DC2-Telemark datacentre is located at Rjukan in the centre of southern Norway. The datacentre opened for business in May 2014 after a building period of only 5 months. Also, an experienced operational team was employed by Green Mountain to manage the day to day operations. The design, high quality build together with the strong operational team has secured flawless operations since the opening.
– We started the certification process of DC2-Telemark immediately after achieving Tier III certification of our DC1-Stavanger facility in April this year, says Chief Operating Officer Tor Kristian Gyland. We are proud to, yet again lead the way in the datacentre market by securing certification for our second datacentre, he continues.
– International best practices to build and operate “rock-solid” datacentres are established by the Uptime Institute in their Tier certification system. The system provides detailed descriptions of how critical infrastructure of datacentres must be built to achieve the “rock-solid” mission, and at the same time mitigating technical and operational risk. The tier system is highly recognised throughout the datacentre industry, but also often misused in marketing. Datacentre companies often claim to have Tier III or Tier IV infrastructure, without documentation to back up their claims.
In Green Mountain we deliver what we promise – and we provide independent documents certifying it, says Chief Executive Officer of Green Mountain, Knut Molaug. We are now operating both of the Tier III certified colocation datacentres in Scandinavia – and we see customers asking for this stamp of quality, he finalises.
